When you eat foods that are high in purines, it increases the uric acid levels in your body and it may lead to the development of gout. Shellfish, red meat, beer, etc. are some of the high-purine foods.

Most sugary drinks contain high fructose corn syrup that increases the uric acid levels in your body. if you are at risk of developing gout, you should switch to diet soda and completely avoid drinks that contain high fructose corn syrup.
